Cost Manager - Charleston, SC

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cost Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing project costs for our data center and mission-critical projects, ensuring efficient financial performance and successful project execution.

 

Key
Responsibilities

As the Cost Manager for Data Center Construction & Mission Critical Projects, you will be responsible for overseeing and controlling all aspects of project costs, ensuring that projects are executed within budgetary constraints. Your primary duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager in overseeing and managing technical, cost, and schedule performance using a Project Controls System, encompassing earned value management, key performance indicators, risk management, and change control.
  • Monitoring and audit compliance
  • Maintaining and controlling budgets from design concept through to project completion
  • Assisting with change management and control of total project costs (general contractors, direct suppliers, and professional appointments)
  • Analyzing projects to ensure that project funding is adequate by performing estimates, cost forecasts, cost trends, and accrual of actual costs.
  • Developing cost estimates for civil, structural, architectural, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical disciplines
  • Preparing material, labor, and equipment cost estimates for concept designs, design development documents, bid documents, and change orders.
  • Estimating and negotiating potential change orders
  • Completing cost validation and quantity surveying on an as needed basis
  • Reconciling program and project controls data with the client’s fiscal and financial controls systems
  • Presenting results of cost analyses to senior staff and clients
  • Mission-Critical Project Expertise: Utilize your experience with mission-critical and complex construction projects to understand unique cost challenges and opportunities in this sector.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of progressive project controls experience with increasing responsibility
  • Experience with substantial EPC/ECM initiatives (exceeding $500 million) and/or involvement in a program comprising concurrent small to medium-sized projects.
  • Proven experience as a Cost Lead Resource, Project Controls, Cost Manager or similar role in data center and mission-critical projects.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6
  • Expertise in cost estimation, budget analysis, and cost control procedures within the construction industry.
  • Experience with cash flow, final forecast, and budget management.
  • Understanding of mission-critical and complex construction projects is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to engage with the client and key stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify cost-saving opportunities and risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work onsite five days a week.
